Students laughing in a group

Thank you for opening your home to students from TU Dublin. Our campuses at Grangegorman, Aungier Street, Bolton Street, Blanchardstown, and Tallaght are enriched by students who benefit greatly from the Host Family/Digs accommodation you provide.

Accommodation Options:

As a host, you can offer various living arrangements from September to June, typically for 5 to 7 nights each week, including:

  • Room only
  • Bed and light breakfast
  • Full board (bed, breakfast, and evening meal)

In certain instances, students might require accommodation for just 3 nights weekly.

Pricing Structure:

The average weekly rate for hosting a student falls between €100 and €200, varying with the level of amenities provided. Notably, international students often seek full-week accommodation for the entire academic year from September to June.

We recognise that many of our students, particularly those not eligible for grants, may have limited financial resources. We ask that when setting your rates for Host Family/Digs Accommodation, you consider affordability for our students. Offering reasonably priced accommodation can make a significant difference for those managing tight budgets while pursuing their education at TU Dublin. Your consideration is greatly appreciated, as it helps foster an inclusive community where all students have the opportunity to thrive.

The income you earn from this arrangement may qualify for the tax-free Rent-a-Room Relief if it's under the annual threshold of €14,000.

Lease Agreements

TU Dublin acts solely as a facilitator and does not oversee the property or agreements. Contracts are directly between you and the student. We advise a deposit equivalent to two weeks' rent and weekly rental payments. A template accommodation agreement is available to help establish clear terms:

Accommodation Agreement

The University is not a regulatory body and does not vet properties, landlords or homeowners. Any lease or letting agreement is between the student and the provider only. We suggest that you ask for a deposit of two weeks and that rent is payable on a weekly basis. A sample of an Accommodation Agreement is available:
