LTA Showcase (January)

The LTA Showcase is an annual one-day event that takes place in January in Grangegorman.
Each showcase includes:
Keynote Presentation: A keynote presenter is invited to speak on a topic of importance to staff in TU Dublin. In 2026, we were delighted to welcome Helen Beetham to present on the topic of "Relational Pedagogy in the Age of Gen AI". In 2025, Sabine Hoidn spoke on the topic of "Student-Centred Learning".
LTA Workshop: The Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) team's Academic Developers run workshops at the Showcase to support staff in developing their knowledge and skills. In 2026, the workshop was focussed on "Building Connections with your Students".
Practitioner Conversations: The Practitioner Conversations session enable staff to hear from and speak with each other about aspects of their teaching, learning and assessment practice. Participants in each conversation are welcome to submit a topic in advance and prepare a 5-minute contribution (slide-free), or just come along to listen and converse. All conversations are table based with some feedback to the room at the end of the session.
2027 LTA Showcase
The 2027 LTA Showcase will take place in January 2027. The event page with details of format, speakers and registration will be announced in November 2026.
2026 LTA Showcase

The 2026 LTA Showcase took place on 23 January 2026, with over 140 TU Dublin staff in attendance.
The showcase focused on relational pedagogy and the importance of connection, belonging, and engagement in the student learning experience, especially as we navigate teaching and learning in the era of Gen AI. Under the theme, “Teaching that Connects,” we explored the central role of relationships in learning and shared ideas for designing meaningful, human-centred educational experiences.
The day was anchored by a keynote from Dr Helen Beetham, who challenged us to rethink connection, belonging, and the value of teaching expertise in the age of generative AI. Afterwards, participants came together for an engaging workshop exploring how relational pedagogy can be woven into everyday teaching practice, followed by a ‘practitioner conversations’ session where staff shared practice, explored future innovations, and identified areas for support.
The day concluded with an awards ceremony recognising recent graduates of the LTA’s CPDs and PGCert.

2025 LTA Showcase

The 2025 LTA Showcase took place across two days, 24 January and 7 May. It had been originally schedules to take place in full and in person on 24 January, but had to be postponed due to a red weather warning. The Keynote address, delivered by Dr Sabine Hoidn on the topic of Student-Centred Learning therefore took place online on 24 January and the remainder of the showcase took place in person on 7 May.
The theme of the 2025 LTA Showcase was "Student Centred Learning: Sharing Practice and Celebrating Success". Student-centred learning prioritises students and their learning needs as the central focus of the educational experience. It aims to encourage deeper learning and support students in becoming self-driven, lifelong learners. The showcase offered attendees an invaluable opportunity to develop a student-centred approach to practice, with talks, workshops, poster presentations, and practice sharing sessions on a range of relevant topics.
