Amanda Dixon

Current role & Experience

Amanda Dixon (BBS, MBS) is a lecturer in the School of Global Business and lectures on multiple cross faculty programmes in the regulation of business space. Amanda is also Operations Lead on the Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR) project.

Amanda has extensive experience working in multiple private industry sectors in several management roles overseeing administration, technology, regulatory and accounting functions. This experience informs her teaching practice and assessment design which concentrates on the real-life application of theoretical components.

Currently, Amanda delivers modules on the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in International Business programme, the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Information Technology programme and the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Digital Marketing programme.

In her capacity as a lecturer and operations lead on the Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR) team Amanda presented at the Valuing Ireland’s Teaching and Learning Event, contributed to the first cross faculty Teaching and Learning Publication in the Faculty of Business, and presented at the 13th Annual Transformative Learning Conference in Oklahoma City.

Amanda is a member of the following entities TU Dublin’s Academic Council, the Authentic Assessment Community of Practice (TU Dublin) and the Rethinking Assessment Community of Practice (QQI). Previously, Amanda has engaged as a Work Package Lead for the Transform EDU Project which was funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

Amanda Dixon’s teaching and assessment practices are informed by her extensive industry experience in management roles overseeing administration, technology, regulatory, and accounting functions.

Her research interests include authentic assessment, transformative learning, and sustainability.

She focuses on the real-life application of theoretical concepts in her teaching, especially in business regulatory environments.

Amanda has contributed to various projects and publications that support active blended learning practices and employability in higher education.

She has presented at several teaching and learning conferences, contributing to the ongoing dialogue about student engagement, authentic assessment, and the integration of transformative learning in the curriculum.

Amanda Dixon teaches on several cross-faculty programmes, including:

She also plays a leadership role as Operations Lead on the Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR) project and is the Lead Facilitator of the Transformative Learning Supporting Student Employability Community of Practice.
