Laser Safety

A structure for the management of Laser Safety at TU Dublin has been established. This structure includes:

Laser Safety Officer

The duties of Laser Safety Officer for TU Dublin have been taken on by Dr Suzanne Martin, Centre Manager, Centre for Industrial and Engineering Optics.
Laser Safety Committee

The Laser Safety Committee is a sub-committee of the University Safety, Health and Welfare Steering Committee. Terms of Reference are attached for your information. The current membership of the Laser Safety Committee is:

Prof John Doran (Chair) (Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Health)

Dr Suzanne Martin (Laser Safety Officer)

Prof Yuliya Semenova (Centre Director, Photonics Research Centre)

Dr John Walsh (Head, School of Art and Design)

Dr Catherine Grogan (Lecturer, School of Physics, Clinical and Optometric Sciences)

Over the next year the Committee will establish a Laser Safety Guidance document, which will include risk assessment templates, laser safety training, inventory, and procurement guidelines related to lasers.
