This is a scheme to provide financial assistance to any TU Dublin student who has financial difficulty with the cost of routine dental or ophthalmic treatment.
The maximum award payable is 75% of the cost of routine and emergency dental treatment (max €250) or Ophthalmic treatment (max €250). Treatment may not commence until approval has been obtained from the Financial Aid Service. Assessment is based on a completed application form and documentation submitted. If emergency dental treatment is required the dentist must seek permission from the TU Dublin Financial Aid Service.
Payment of any award will be made directly to the TU Dublin appointed dentist - Dr Paul Redbond, on receipt of an invoice for the proportion of the total fees. The amount invoiced should reflect the fee for which the TU Dublin Financial Aid Service Administrator has agreed to be liable. The balance must be paid to the Practitioner by the applicant. If you go to your own dentist the same rules apply but you must pay upfront and submit a receipt to the Financial Aid Service.
Any recommendation made will expire on completion of the treatment required. Any further treatment must be the subject of a new application by the student.

Routine dental treatment including fillings, extractions, scaling and polishing and essential reconstruction work and dentures. Routine ophthalmic treatment includes sight testing, lenses (including bifocals where required) and frames in accordance with Eastern Health Board regulation.

If you attend the TU Dublin appointed dentist, Dr Paul Redbond, and you have been approved for assistance from this office it is paid directly the dentist. Otherwise, it will be paid to your bank account.
Grant details or a recent payslip or recent social welfare details for your parents/guardians. If you are a mature student, you must submit BTEA/Social Welfare details or/and partner’s income details. Written evidence on official paper, from your dentist that the treatment is necessary and a quotation and/or receipt for treatment costs.
You can go to any dentist, but it is preferable you go to the TU Dublin appointed dentist, Dr Paul Redbond. You can attend any optician.
