First Year Orientation

The School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology would like to welcome all of our first year students registering for programmes in our school. Each section below will provide you with information regarding your orientation schedule, the fitting and ordering of essential uniforms, knives, and/or bakery equipment. 

You may require additional items depending on your subject discipline and the various modules taught within each programme. We recommend that you download and print relevant information from the appropriate programme links provided below:

Please be advised there are additional costs to be incurred for uniforms and knives.

Your orientation will take place on the campus where your programme is taught. Orientation details can be checked by searching your programme code in the documents linked below.

Grangegorman

Tallaght Orientation Schedule

All new students of TU942 and TU741 at our school are required to attend the following mandatory workshops during orientation week:

  1. Food Safety
  2. Knife Skills
  3. Academic Writing

These workshops will take place on Wednesday 9th September from 9am until 3pm in Central Quad, Grangegorman. Workshops for TU741 will be held in CQ105, while TU942 will be held in CQ107.

 

SCAFT Uniform Code


Please note that in compliance with all Health and Safety Regulations, the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology enforces a strict student uniform code that must be adhered to at all times. Your co-operation in this regard is vital and you are asked to download, print, and review the following dress code documentation:

For Grangegorman Campus:

Uniforms can be collected in the Central Quad, TU Dublin, City Campus, Ground Floor (Culinary Shop) on Thursday 10th September from 11.30am to 12.30pm

 

For Tallaght Campus:

Uniforms will be issued on campus, time and date TBC.

Knife sets for your programme must be ordered/purchased online in advance. Details of knife sets are listed by course code below. Use the password in the relevant document to purchase your knives from:

Students on the Grangegorman Campus will collect their knives in the Central Quad, TU Dublin, City Campus, Ground Floor (Culinary Shop) on Thursday 10th September 2026

For students on the Tallaght Campus, knives will be delivered during the week commencing 15th September 2026.

 

Student ID card collection arrangements vary by campus. Grangegorman students can collect their student ID cards from the Central Quad (CQ) Foyer on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, between 9:30am–1:00pm and 1:30pm–5:00pm.

Tallaght students will receive their student ID cards as part of College Registration, with further details to be confirmed.

Blanchardstown students should collect their student ID cards in line with the Student Services Blanchardstown Orientation Agenda.
