Ramadan

Published: 21 Mar, 2023

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Muslim lunar calendar. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn until dusk, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs/desires.

Apart from fasting, Ramadan is also a time for increased prayer, reading of the Quran (holy book), and charitable acts.

The sunset meal, known as Iftar, is an occasion to sit with family and friends and to nourish the body on its soulful journey.

The end of Ramadan (21st April, this year) is marked by the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a joyous occasion where families and friends gather together to break their fast, celebrate and exchange gifts.
