Enterprise Systems and Planning
Led by Eoin Dunne, Deputy Head of Technology Services - Enterprise Systems & Planning, this section encompasses three distinct teams, Enterprise Systems Solutions, the ICT Project Office and Data. The Deputy Head has direct responsibility for the fulfilment of strategic KPIs with a particular focus on streamlining of management information and operations (MIS), integration of systems and related business processes, development of relationships with internal and external partners, and the overall delivery of a pipeline of approved IT projects.
Enterprise Systems Solutions (ESS)
This function has responsibility for the design, development, and administration (including replacements, consolidations, and upgrades) of a comprehensive portfolio of enterprise applications that aligns to the principle of ‘Digital by Default and Cloud First.’ It also has responsibility for enabling data flows between applications and the surfacing of information that provides insights for management to make data-driven business decisions.
The staff within this team have contributed significantly to the successful consolidation of existing campus-based systems into unified solutions boasting modern interfaces in an externally hosted environment with the additional security measures that that entails. Solutions such as Finance (ERP), Timetabling (Syllabus+), HR (CoreHR) and the unified Student Records Management System (SRMS) are now consolidated across all campuses. This is a critical precursor for the implementation of the new TU Dublin education model of providing access pathways for students into, and through, higher education.
Working closely with the functional IS Managers in Academic Affairs, Finance, and HR to capture their requirements, ESS provides the skills and knowledge to support the transition to a “One TU Dublin” methodology for delivery of business processes across all campuses in a consistent manner.
The members of this team have also supported the development and approval of a data strategy which was a pre-requisite for the unified SRMS project. Through the creation of a well trained and experienced Data Analytics and Reporting group, ESS drives the implementation of the Data Strategy to pave the way for an integrated approach to our improved use of data, and the realisation of better outcomes for our students through:
- More joined-up end-to-end digital services
- Better analytics driven data insights leading to improved decision-making
- Reduced administration by cutting the need to repeatedly find/provide the same data
- Improved agility by securely and efficiently reusing data
- Improved protection and transparency of the way data is used throughout its lifecycle
ICT Project Office
The ICT Project Office has responsibility for strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, understanding their requirements, advising on technology-related decisions and providing IT resources to actively support the fulfilment of those requirements. Find out more here.
