Caring for Our Common Home Photographic Exhibition

Published: 23 May, 2022

'At TU Dublin, we are embarking on an exciting journey towards 2030 and we invite you to join us so that we can create a better world together'.  These are the opening words of TU Dublin's President Prof. David FitzPatrick during his introduction to the University's Strategic Intent document.  The three pillars of this strategy are People, Planet and Partnership, and are underpinned by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It is with this in mind that the Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Service (PCCS) at TU Dublin, and Trócaire invite you to visit this photographic exhibition Caring for Our Common Home  featuring portraits of some of the brave women and men with whom Trócaire is working in defence of their communities. It also includes images of activists across the island of Ireland who make a stand to achieve a more sustainable world.

The race for natural resources has put millions of people at risk – especially in countries where Trócaire works. In his encyclical 'Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home', Pope Francis calls out the economic powers who continue to justify the pursuit of financial gain at any cost and who ‘fail to take the context into account, let alone the effects on human dignity and the natural environment’ (Laudato Si’, 56). We need a profound change in ‘lifestyles, models of production and consumption, and the established structures of power which today govern societies’ (Laudato Si’, 5).

Caring for Our Common Home is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm until the 29th of July*.   Feel free to visit with family and friends for the duration of the exhibition.
