Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering

The Discipline of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering exemplifies what a Technological University represents, with students studying across a range of programmes from Level 6 to Level 10. The programmes provide an opportunity for a diverse range of students to engage in life-long learning, with Part-time and Full-Time programmes, deploying both traditional and blended delivery modes which provide flexibility and accessibility for all.

The discipline is also focused on Industry-based research, with current research projects in the fields of Additive & Subtractive Manufacturing, Augmented and Virtual Reality Technologies and Formula Student. These industry linked projects have resulted in significant investment in laboratory and workshop spaces in recent years.

The undergraduate programmes currently offered are:

The discipline of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering also works closely with partners within the area of Apprenticeship education to deliver the Phase 4 and 6 elements of the following Level 6 National Craft Apprenticeship programmes:

The array of programmes delivered by the discipline, and the resulting expertise within, allow students to experience a more holistic engineering education experience, with students benefiting from both the practical and theoretical based knowledge of the staff. The discipline takes a cross-disciplinary approach to education, working closely with colleagues in other fields to share knowledge, research and teaching expertise.
