Industrial Background/Experience

Dr. Muhannad Y. Ahmed Obeidi has extensive industrial experience spanning advanced manufacturing, aerospace engineering, mechanical systems, and industrial rehabilitation projects. His professional background combines hands-on engineering practice with applied research and industrial collaboration across Ireland and the Middle East. Most recently, he worked as a Design Engineer at Nammo Ireland Ltd., where he was involved in the design and development of critical components for rocket engine fuel control systems and aerospace support structures. His responsibilities included material selection, finite element stress analysis using ANSYS, manufacturing and assembly planning, and overseeing validation and vibration testing programmes under strict aerospace and cleanroom standards. He also gained significant experience working with precision instrumentation, advanced manufacturing systems, and high-reliability engineering processes associated with the space industry. Prior to this, Dr. Obeidi accumulated substantial industrial and managerial experience through engineering roles in manufacturing, maintenance, and production systems. He established and managed his own engineering workshop and services office, specialising in sand casting, hydraulic systems, mechanical maintenance, reverse engineering, and the rehabilitation of industrial machinery and production lines. His work involved the design, repair, and upgrading of manufacturing systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, submerged welding equipment, and heat treatment furnaces. Earlier in his career, he worked with the Iraqi Ministry of Industries and Minerals and the Atomic Energy Commission, where he managed large-scale mechanical maintenance operations and contributed to the maintenance and operation of high-precision CNC manufacturing systems and industrial production equipment. He also participated in major rehabilitation projects involving power plants, refineries, and industrial facilities damaged during wartime, coordinating technical teams and overseeing on-site engineering operations. Throughout his industrial career, Dr. Obeidi has developed strong expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies, additive manufacturing, mechanical design, process optimisation, industrial problem-solving, and multidisciplinary engineering project management. His industrial knowledge continues to inform his teaching, applied research, and collaboration with industry partners in manufacturing and engineering sectors.
