Using Images on the Web
General Guidelines
- Avoid the use of stock photos where possible, as they are not an authentic representation of our brand
- If you do require Adobe Stock Image(s), please be aware of the licence application terms.
- We recommend downloading images from our Digital Asset Management System (Canto)
- To improve load time and minimise bandwidth consumption, images should be optimised for web before uploading them to the content management system (CMS)
- Follow the Image Size Specifications for specific uses
- Use descriptive (and unique) filenames, for example group-of-students-on-grangegorman-campus.jpg. Do not use generic filenames like Image1.jpg or Untitled1.jpg
- Do not include spaces in the filename; use hyphens where appropriate such as tu-dublin-logo.jpg
- Alt text should be added to all images in the media library to describes each image's meaning
- Staff profile images must be in horizontal orientation
